Why did you decide to work at NGL?

When I began my job search, I knew I wanted two things out of whatever new job I took:

1. Work in an area of the law where I had immediate opportunities to not only grow but also contribute; and

2. The ability to work from wherever I wanted with an emphasis on my work-life balance.

When I saw the posting for Counsel at NGL, it seemed too good to be true, but I applied and the rest is history.

What has been the most surprising benefit of working at NGL?

That "too good to be true" posting was spot on. The opportunity to grow and contribute to this team from day one continues to motivate me everyday on finding new ways to contribute to the firm's success.

But the constant mentorship, guidance, and support I've received from Senior Counsel and the Partners has been incredible. I'm given opportunities to try and fail, but have the resources to learn and quickly take a shot at translating my lessons learned to tangible results.

On the work/life balance side, the flexibility in working fully remote has been a breath of fresh air for my career. Additionally, time off is truly time off and that's including weekends and time during the week that is outside of normal work hours. Having a llfe outside of work was a top priority for me and I've found a wonderful balance at NGL.

What excites you about the work you do?

We get to work with some of the most brilliant people across the world. Our clients are creating medical devices and software platforms that will literally shape the future of healthcare as we know it.

I love working with a client to help address their regulatory or commercial concerns and then see that initiative broadcast and become a huge success in the real world.

Do you think you'll progress faster in your career because of your experiences at NGL?

100%. The roadmap for success internal to the firm is clear, but the knowledge the senior attorneys share with the less experienced attorneys is priceless.

I get to do work and interact with clients on a level that is probably "years" ahead of my age, but because of my experiences I can take them on as a relatively young attorney.

On the personal development side, I'm always encouraged to explore personal interests and bring them to the firm. I don't think many other attorneys at my level can say they are helping establish a practice area within their law firm just a few years out of law school

What kind of person do you think would excel at NGL?

First and foremost, you have to be able to embrace the team culture here. Given our workplace is fully remote, the people here will not hesitate to reach out to you and welcome you to the firm.

While the work can be complex, the support system available is incredible and you will never be alone.

Taking feedback and growing from it is essential, especially in learning these nuanced areas of the law.

But if you're looking for a challenge and willing to embrace the opportunity to work with innovators (both internally at the firm and externally with clients) you've found the right place!
