Summer 2022 Extern Joanna Shea

Joanna’s startup and tech experience between her B.A in Integrative Physiology 2014 and her forthcoming graduation from Loyola University Chicago with a Health Law Certificate in 2022 make her an ideal contributor to Nixon Gwilt Law.

Real-world experience in the rhythm and speed of innovation gives her a leg up in meeting the needs of our innovative clients.

Here’s what Joanna had to say about working at Nixon Gwilt Law:

My name is Joanna and I am a 3L finishing my Health Law Certificate at Loyola University Chicago. Accessibility to high-quality and affordable healthcare drives my interest in the space, so I was beyond excited to find Nixon Gwilt Law, a firm as committed to rethinking how legal services are offered as they are to advancing innovation in healthcare.

I look forward to learning more about anything that breaks down the barriers to patient-centric healthcare like remote patient monitoring, digital health, and artificial intelligence & machine learning in the medical device space. I believe legal services should be a conduit, not a bottleneck, for innovation in healthcare.

Outside of the healthcare space, I care about K-12 education and food equity. When I'm not heads down studying or interning for NGL, you can find me whipping up dinner for friends, fostering kitties, or adding to my plant collection.
